An independent look at OKX

The exchange that turned a 2013 Beijing startup into a hundred-country network.

OKX began as a small Chinese exchange, weathered a national crypto ban, rebuilt itself as a global platform, and now runs spot, derivatives, and Web3 tools for customers across more than 100 countries. This page lays out what it actually offers, plainly.

What you can actually do on it

OKX grew up as a derivatives platform, then broadened out. These are the pieces most people use, in the order most people reach for them.

Spot & margin trading

Buy and sell major and long-tail assets directly, or trade with borrowed funds for larger positions.

Futures & options

OKX built its early reputation here — dated futures and perpetual swaps with no expiry, plus options for hedging or speculation.

Earn

Staking and on-chain yield products for holders who'd rather not actively trade.

OKX Wallet & Web3

A self-custody wallet with direct access to DeFi apps, NFTs, and on-chain activity, separate from the exchange's custodial balance.

Trading bots & API

Pre-built automated strategies for retail users, and low-latency API access for anyone building their own.

Institutional services

Managed sub-accounts, block trading, and historical market data for funds and larger desks.

On the world stage

Sponsorship spend is one of the more visible signs of how a crypto exchange wants to be seen. OKX has put its name next to sport and culture, not just fintech.

Regulated, and shown, not just claimed

Two separate questions for any exchange: is it licensed where you live, and does it show its books.

Licensing

OKX Europe Ltd. holds a MiCA licence issued in Malta, and separate entities hold licences in other jurisdictions, including a VASP licence in Dubai. Licensing is jurisdiction-specific — always check what applies to your own country before depositing funds.

Proof of reserves

OKX publishes proof-of-reserves reports, a practice that lets users independently verify that customer holdings are backed on-chain, rather than taking custody claims on faith.

Common questions

Is OKX available where I live?

OKX serves customers in more than 100 countries, but availability and product access vary by jurisdiction — for example, EU users are served through the MiCA-licensed Malta entity with a different product set than users elsewhere. Check okx.com directly for what applies to you.

Is OKX regulated?

It depends where you are. OKX operates through several regional entities, each licensed separately — Malta under MiCA, Dubai under VARA, and others. There's no single global licence that covers every user.

What makes OKX different from a newer exchange?

Mainly history and depth of derivatives products — OKX was one of the earlier platforms to offer perpetual swaps and options at scale, which is still where a large share of its volume comes from.

Where do I actually sign up or log in?

This page doesn't handle accounts, deposits, or logins. Use okx.com directly for any of that.
